Shoot’s first event at the National Portrait Gallery was a huge success. Brett and I double-teamed the presentation, with most of the participants having a higher than usual level of photographic experience. The result was some great photos and some tough decisions as to who won each of the categories. Such a brilliant location as well – the contestants got access to the Camille Silvy exhibition – who was both the first photographer to use props in his photos to characterise the individuals he was photographing and also the first Celebrity photographer. He took tens of portraits a day and kept a copy of every photo, in numerical order in a series of 8 massive volumes, a few of which were on display.
See the winning photos on the shoot experience site or check out the Camille Silvy Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. There are limited photos on Google images, which is a shame, hopefully there will be more after the exhibition has raised his profile.
